Sin is reparable and you, O Lord, have provided the remedy we need through fasting, prayer and works of charity. This is all possible because you are the unique source of goodness and merciful love. In your mercy you have made us aware of our weakness and lowliness to which we humbly now confess before you. In your loving kindness you have shown us our frailty so that you can show us the saving power of your love to restore us to life.
Responsorial Psalm — Psalm 19:8-11
- (John 6:68) Lord, you have the words of everlasting life.
The law of the LORD is perfect,
refreshing the soul;
The decree of the LORD is trustworthy,
giving wisdom to the simple.
The precepts of the LORD are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the command of the LORD is clear,
enlightening the eye.
The fear of the LORD is pure,
the ordinances of the LORD are true,
all of them just.
They are more precious than gold,
than a heap of purest gold;
sweeter also than syrup
or honey from the comb.
