The Lord preserved the Covenant so much does he love mankind

Gathering Prayer

Be so good, O Lord, to grant us this favor which only your almighty power can make possible: that through the annual observance of our Lenten traditions we become more and more faithful to your covenant with all of creation in Christ Jesus. Unfold the mysteries of your Son so that in his light we put into practice daily the eternal mystery of your saving love.

Our response today to the word of God — is Psalm 25. Lent is a renewal of the covenant. Those who keep it have eternal life.

Responsorial Psalm — Psalm 25:4-5, 6-7, 8-9

  1. (cf. 10) Your ways, O Lord, are love and truth

to those who keep your covenant.

Your ways, O LORD, make known to me;
    teach me your paths,
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my savior.

Remember that your compassion, O LORD,
and your love are from of old.
In your kindness remember me,
because of your goodness, O LORD.

Good and upright is the LORD,
thus he shows sinners the way.
He guides the humble to justice,
and he teaches the humble his way.

  1. Your ways, O Lord, are love and truth

to those who keep your covenant.
