A little while and you will not see me,
and again a little while and you will see me,’
and ‘Because I am going to the Father’?”
WE SHALL CELEBRATE THE FEAST OF ASCENSION NEXT SUNDAY
Saint Paul told the Athenians:
For as I walked around looking carefully at your shrines,
I even discovered an altar inscribed, ‘To an Unknown God.’
What therefore you unknowingly worship, I proclaim to you.
I will give thanks to you, O LORD, with all my heart,
for you have heard the words of my mouth;
in the presence of the angels I will sing your praise;
I will worship at your holy temple,
and give thanks to your name.
The Lord takes delight in his people.
For Lord loves his people, he will crown the humble with salvation.
The faithful exult in glory, shout for joy as they worship him.
“In truth, I see that God shows no partiality.
Rather, in every nation whoever fears him and acts uprightly
is acceptable to him.”
TO OUR FIRST COMMUNICANTS
Sing joyfully to the LORD, all you lands;
serve the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful song.
It is the decision of the Holy Spirit and of us
not to place on you any burden beyond these necessities.
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you for so long a time
and you still do not know me, Philip?
Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.
After that he appeared to James,
then to all the Apostles.
I rejoiced because they said to me,
“We will go up to the house of the LORD.”
If you loved me,
you would rejoice that I am going to the Father;
for the Father is greater than I.
